It's sad when a show like American Idol professes to be about searching for the most talented singers in the U.S. but always seems to fall short on its promise. The system hardly seems fair when such a quality singer such as Erika Van Pelt is sent home while other less qualified contestants remain. I agree that perhaps five or so are qualified to continue but there are singers still on the show that really are not nearly as good. Some may be funny or popular with the tween crowd but the show isn't about great vocalists anymore. Hasn't been for a very long time.

Yes - I agree with you entirely.  This show is supposed to be about finding talented singers.  The judges also had an opportunity to save Erica and keep her on the show, but they opted not to.  I have been picking not just winners from this show for years - but I've been picking the people that were talented enough to make it as a singer.  You just know when people 'have it' and when they don't.  Erica is one of those singers that definitely 'has what it takes' and I sincerely hope she has very successful career in the music industry as of now.   I am very disappointed in this show, the judging and the system and I will not be watching after tonight.  Actually, I just started an online course, so now that I will not be watching the show, I'll have more time to study.   Take care.

This is the second year in a row that I have suspected that this show is totally phony.  DeAndre and Heejun should both have been eliminated long before Erika Van Pelt.  And for the "judges" not to have used their "save" to keep Erika is a travesty of justice.
