do you think he would have been given 'Home'? It's a perfect song for Phillip, and I highly doubt they optioned it with anyone else in mind, so it makes me wonder what type of song "choices" Joshua would have been given for the finale. If idol was truly doing this in a way to get the right songs to the right contestants, I'd also love to know which other songs were pre-selected for all of the possible finale competitors. Perhaps, if any of the others are signed by Interscope (I hope!), those songs will be introduced on that idol's debut album or EP. Unless the song just sucks, in which case, keep it on the shelf.

I think they "pick" the song for the final 2 a couple weeks ahead of time. Not sure but I think they'd have already had one picked out for Joshua.. I do know that season 5 "Do I Make You Proud" was picked for Elliott but once he was gone they gave it to Taylor because he wouldn't do the one they had picked for him. Make a person wonder what it was huh?

I am pretty positive that Home was for Phillip.  But, I would love to know what Joshua would have had to choose from.  That would have been a MUCH harder vote in the finale for me.

yea it does! And do these unused songs just get thrown into a bin to be saved for another season? Or sold to someone else? Ah, there are just too many idol mysteries..

With Joshua, we would have had a more exciting Finale with possibly Jessica winning.

I think of Joshua as retro soul with that big voice.  There's an Austin band, Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears, that has some good songs he could have sung.
