I was wondering the same thing, but then I just read online that one main reason was because since the beginning of the competition Phillip Phillips is dealing with a serious kidney problem and is need of surgery ASAP. The Idol producers thought having Phillip do all these extra activities would put to much undue stress and pressure on him and effect his health, So I believe that is why he's not been in them, only because they wanted him to rest and take things easy!!@
