What do you think?

Does anybody else who remembers Jim Reeves think Scotty has that same smooth, comforting, easy, rich quality to his voice? I'm not saying they actually sound alike ... It's the richness of the voice. I've thought this about Scotty from the beginning.

Re: What do you think?

I've thought that same thing. TTWG with the strings and his smoothe voice sounds alot like him.  That is a good thing and a bad thing. Bad cause Jim is from the 60s and it Scotty needs to keep his sound modern to stay relevant on the radio.  So we'll see what happens.

I bet if he'd of had the chance, Scotty coulda done an awesome cover of "He'll Have to Go" on the show.

Slightly off topic, but I figure if anyone knows, you would, Country Fan:  Any way to know or find out

A) how many copies of TTWG has sold so far?

B) how many copies of the presale album have sold?  (guess it's harder to know how many on Scotty's site, but)

I really love TTWG btw, much better than ILYTB, and I think he sounds better than Jim:  some voices surpass the test of time... and we know he's throwback, so... think a lot of people want the old country sound to return, otherwise Lauren would have won over Scotty.  MHO

Re: What do you think?

Ctryfan... I kept hoping he would cover some JR on the show... I think he could do it and keep it true as well as current.... Who knows how great JR would have been if he had not been killed so young.... I agree people are ready for that type if voice ... And in MHO Scotty is it.... Still love to hear JR and plan to listen to Scotty for years to come!!!!

Re: What do you think?

Hope nobody feels I was showing disrespect to Gentleman Jim by saying Scotty sounds better.  What I mean is they don't sound the same to me, and I prefer Scotty's sound.  But again, who couldn't love Jim Reeves?

Re: What do you think?

Another crooner he kinda reminds me of is Eddy Arnold..."Bouquet of Roses" is the biggest hit of his that I can think of, but he charted song from the 1940s thru the 1990s.

I don't know about sales. I have contacts in regards to early charting numbers.  I usually depend on MJs site to find out about sales.  The only way right now to eve guess at it is just see where it is on the ITunes/Amazon sales charts.

Monday is the single adds day....maybe Tuesday since Monday is Labor Day. So I'll know more about how its doing on the radio by that report. I'll let ya'll know as soon as I do.

Re: What do you think?

You know he DOES sound a bit like Eddy Arnold, I never thought about that... don't forget Make the World Go Away. . . That was his biggest hit, wasn't it?  Lower than him, but same incredible style!

Oh yes I love that song!  Country was so great back in those days.  I'm glad Scotty is trying to keep some of that sound alive.

Re: What do you think?

Wow I didn't think of Eddy Arnold but you are exactly right... Loved him as well... To me the thing is Scotty does not sound just like any of these... It's the quality and resonance of the voice... This is why so many articles I have read about Scotty call him a "country crooner".... That's exactly what he is....And I LOVE IT!
