The winner reaching heights no other has so quickly! Do you think it will bring back viewers that didn't watch season 11? People wishing they had watched all the talent of season 11?  Man I hope this doesn't get moved!!

I think time will tell if he has reached higher heights.  I think TPTB will try to make magic to bring back viewers.  Changes, PR and tons of ads etc.  Phillip will not make or break the show.

I think we'll find out when his album is released. It's going to be a new sound, and if it catches on, it definitely could bring lots of new viewers. I think idol will promo next season as a revamped show anyway.. idk what changes they will make, but I bet they advertise it in a new light to reflect changes.. we'll see.

True but American Idol is now the talk of the World! Literally!! Might not be just Phillip but with the TCA nominations and and and!! I'm thinking people who didn't watch this season can't help not hear about how good it was all the way through! And might want the excitement hoping AI12 will bring! Just a thought. IMO *-)

It is?   What gives you the impression that AI is the talk of the World........literally?

Considering the decerease in ratings and viewership, I'm not quite sure where you're coming from.

The finale, as an example,  was down 32% from 2011.

I really do not think it is the success or lack of success of the winner that causes viewers to come and go.  I think the after show is different than the season.  People need to enjoy the actual show to watch.  I think if TPTB make waves about changing the voting or being more diverse etc, it will spark interest.

Scotty is doing well.  Phillip is making a name.  AI is relevant in the business.  Now the show needs to be fun.  It is for me but apparently I am not the only one who matters.  Who knew?

It is! IMO and from all I've read.. That's my question, it (WAS) down! Now with the success of more than just the winner, will that help AI to re-bound back up in season 12? Have you been following it, because I have!  I'll dig around for the Screenshots of  AI trending (worldwide)!

I don't think that Idol made any more waves than it usually has. I think Americans certainly know what American Idol is and have their own opinion on it as to whether or not they will watch it... I don't think Phillip's win will effect the viewership too much in a good or bad way. I think the viewership for each season is more determined by the contestants of that season, Idol's ratings will rise and fall depending on the show they give th viewer's each season. I am definitely excited for Season 12 though, I am very interested in this revamp of the show. I wonder what the producer's are planning for the voting system.

Phillip's success is undeniable.  Jessica picking up the slack when he was recovering from surgery in national events.  Joshua is making noise every where.  Yes, there is more chatter than in the past

Will it mean more viewers?  Not sure.  It does not hurt.  Chatter in January is what is needed.

Talk of this seasons AI from what I've read anyway, seems to be headlining a lot more and a lot longer after the confetti fell than any past season I can remember? This wasn't just a Phillip thread! If this makes any sense? My whole point was.. If I had skipped it and not watched this season and then almost every time I turned on my computer there was more American Idol 11 breaking news?? I'd be bummed that I missed it all. So maybe people who didn't watch, see all the news and will be back for season 12!  There seems to be more to the (Attraction) of season 11 than just the Winner!
