Change voting rules and ratings will rise

I don't think changing the judges will raise the ratings.  If they'd finally revise the voting rules viewers would watch in greater numbers again. People have always wanted the voting rules changed so they can feel like they are actually making an impact on the results if they only have time to vote a few times and don't have 2-4 hours at night to vote.  My opinion.

Getting big names like StevenTyler and JLo didn't help and the ratings fell this year.  Try changing the vote, not the judges.

I think TPTB has now got that message after Season 11 and will attempt to reboot the show completely and start fresh for season 12.

Re: Change voting rules and ratings will rise

Even if some minor changes are made, it will improve the ratings.  How about allowing 50 votes per method for THE TOP THREE?  At least it would be a more honest result and we could feel a part of the decision making - not just the text messengers.

Re: Change voting rules and ratings will rise

We have been talking and posting about this for years.  So am now beginning to wonder if it is even possible.  Meaning I am now starting to believe that perhaps this is part of their contract with AT&T and perhaps that is unbreakable.  I mean I'm not a lawyer and know contracts can be broken.  Also feel that other advertisers would jump at the chance to air their commercials during the show.  But feel it is more than having Ryan announce the millions of votes that came in with our current unlimited system that is keeping this method still here.

Also wonder if it is just the voting system that has turned viewers away.  I mean the competing shows basically are keeping in contestants based on the mentors' decisions.  So what's the difference if someone stays because of unlimited voting as here on Idol or if the mentor decides that person should stay.  In either case it takes away from my votes.  So I find those other methods just as non motivating to make me feel my votes count.

Think there are other factors.  The WGWG trend that has been talked about ad nauseum already.  The fact that the competing top whatever # as a whole has become more homogenous and perhaps not representative of TV viewers as compared to the other shows in this genre.  Also really need judges who really want to be there for the love of the show and not for their own purposes.

Also the theme choices are really becoming stale and totally overdone already.  Idol needs new and more current song choices and should retire those we have heard too often.  And the mentors should concentrate a lot more on stage performance since this is also a "visual" show.

My signature? Whitney's "Greatest Love Of All." Some are fortunate and learn that early in life. Me, it took decades.

Re: Change voting rules and ratings will rise

I truly sorry but I think you guys are wrong, I don't think limiting the voting will make the rating all of a sudden go up. Heck their ratings are in the toilet yet and sure I agree that there are a few things that need some attention but for 11 season there has been unlimited voting why all of a sudden would changing that make a #1 show go up?  As always just my opinion..

Voting isn't going to change. It makes money for AT&T. I don't think it would effect the audience even if it did change.

Fix the voting system so there is a limit to the number of votes. Get rid of all the guest performers that aren't former Idol contestants. This show is way too bloated with irrelevant content, especially the results show.

I agree with this, but I think they bring on guest that they think will appeal to their target audience.

Fair enough - I guess I was reacting to some of the guest performers that I really didn't like at all.

And there were several Guest Performers I did not like or who did a lousy job!
