TOTALLY BIASED reviews - Top 7!

[ Edited ]

Yay current songs!!!! So this is probs my favorite performance night of the season so far! And all because we get to hear current songs! What a freakin' miracle! Okay, I'll stop with the exclamation marks. Note: I am extremely sleep deprived right now.

Skylar - DIdn't Know How Much I Loved You by Kellie Pickler - Hey look, she plays guitar! This was a good, solid performance. Skylar's just the one contestant I don't really care about. She can be amazing, and I'll acknowledge it, but I can't get excited about it.

Colton - Love the Way You Lie by Skylar Grey - Hey, once again I didn't hate this! I didn't think he sounded that whiny. And I thought it was smart that he sat behind the piano this week. He also just has a really great attitude about everything. So yeah, Colton's growing on me. Jimmy kept talking about this Colton vs P2 thing, which I think is just silly.

Elise and P2 - Somebody That I Used to Know by Gotye - Aw, these intro packages are so cute! I'll admit, I first heard this song yesterday. Clearly I'm out of the Top 40 music loop. This duet sounded a lot better than it looked. I mean, P2 is just so awwwkward without his guitar. He sounded good good at first, and then he went to try to hit the higher notes and it was AAAHHHH. And then contrast that with Elise who hits the high notes so effortlessly! So yeah, she definitely sounded way better than P2 did.  Overall, this was the best duet/trio of the night. (which isn't saying much...)

"She's just a better singer than I am" - Perfect statement P2.

Jessica - Stuttering by Jazmine Sullivan - I've been hearing from so many people that Jessica's performances are emotionless. What?! I hear so much emotion when she sings. And I've gotta admit, this is probably my favorite performance from her so far. I remember looking up this song earlier today and thinking "This sounds kinda boring" but Jessica sold it when she performed it. I loved it. What was she wearing, though?! Did not like that shirt at all. And I wish JLo would stop comparing her to Joshua. Actually, I have no idea what JLo was trying to tell Jessica. She just went on forever and kept talking and talking and I just got really confused.

I wish people would stop hatin' on the BB Chez. She's young. She likes Beyonce. She gave herself a nickname for fun. I think it's cute. It's not that big of a deal.

Joshua - Runaway Baby by Bruno Mars -  AWWW YEEESSS. This is my favorite Bruno Mars song, so I was so excited when I heard Joshua would be singing it. Was it perfect? Not even close. (And definitely not standing O worthy.) But it was crazy Paula dancing worthy! And it was hella fun. When he sang the carrot line? yeeeaaaah. He brought so much energy. So glad he picked this song. Joshua just might end up being one of my faves. Thought the gogo dancer in the back was super randomm though.

Colton and Skylar - Don't You Wanna Stay by Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson - Okay, who started these ridiculous dating rumours? Nigel, was that you?! I know it wasn't a fan or anyone of the 15million viewers. All the fake showmance crap made me want to gag. These two could kiss on stage and I still wouldn't believe that they were a couple. Absolutely ZERO chemistry. Anyways, the performance was once again kind of dull. Skylar was struggling with those high notes. Just didn't work. Even Skylar seemed to agree with Randy! And then after they were done, they keep going on with the "We're not dating" thing. WE GET IT.

Hollie - Perfect by P!nk - Awww man, I feel so bad for her! Each week I've been saying "Hollie's slipping. She's just not hitting all her notes and singing boring songs" but this week I really felt like she stepped it up! And she was pitch perfect. I didn't hear a single off-note. Emotionally, yes, it could have been better. But I can't fault her for her pitch. I love the note she held out at the end. So once the judges starting talking, I just wanted to punch them all in the face. I've actually been sticking up for these three idiots when so many people were saying "They're throwing Hollie under the bus!" but I'm done with that. This honestly felt exactly like Hollie was being bussed. Faint praise is the worst. On an unrelated note, what was Hollie wearing?? I keep seeing her in so many cute outfits during the video packages, and then on performance night she shows up in some weird tutu thing. I don't know. I wish she would just wear something normal for once.

P2 - Give a Little More by Maroon 5 - I honestly think the absense of Heejun has made P2 worse. I just thought this performance was boring. Not a trainwreck like last week, but I think I'd actually rather listen to last week's because at least I found that interesting. I just wasn't captivated by this performance in the least bit. And this was the perfect theme for P2! Why didn't you listen to me?? You were supposed to pick an R&B/hip hop/rap song! Or maybe something by a female artist! GAHHHH. But JLo actually gave P2 some criticism. GO JLo! Way to step it up! You too Randy. And see? P2 takes criticism like a pro. He doesn't care if they don't like him. In that sense, don't ever change, P2.

Hollie, Joshua, and Jessica - Stronger by Kelly Clarkson - Ho. Ly. Ship. This was all kiiinds of trainwreck. My mouth literally opened and my jaw just stayed like that in shock of how bad this was. This was by FAR the worst performance of the night. I mean, they all seem fine when they're singing by themselves, but if they have to harmonize all heck breaks loose.

But awwwwww, Josh and Hollie bffs! <3 That was SO cute.

Elise - You and I by Lady Gaga - I'll admit. I was kind of underwhelmed by this. Maybe it's because Lady Gaga is like, too close to Elise's style already. Plus, I was trying really hard not to, but I kept thinking about Haley's version of this last year and how I honestly liked that so much better. I also thought Elise should have stayed behind the piano the whole time. Keep it intimate. And I don't even know what she was wearing. These girls have the strangest sense of style.

Random thoughts

- Idol, please stop trying to make the duets into battles. This is not The Voice.

- I almost called P2, Phil. Can you believe that?!

- We got to hear longer performances! YAY!

- Mannn, the judges love to talk. At the end they just kept going and going and I was like JLo just please shut up...

- I don't know who I want going home tomorrow.. =/

- Holy crap I get wordier and wordier with each recap I write! Sorry! I'll try to be more concise next week!

Re: TOTALLY BIASED reviews - Top 7!

I agree, I think this is the first week I sort of liked all the performances...since I'm posting AFTER the elimination show...........

Call me kookaloo, but this whole results-thang feels a little, oh, I don't know, "doctored".  No one will convince me that Joshua and Jessica were in the bottom three, for real.
