OK, I'm not a granny yet, (although I certainly could be) but I enjoyed the Beatles theme tonight. I haven't always. But I felt like this was the first time this season that the singers took on some meaty songs and put their own spins on them. I wish a few more had taken on uptempo songs, but all in all, I was satisfied.

I think it has been more about song choices than the themes in my opinion.

I felt very bad for them.
I know they did not want to sing those songs. I wouldn't want to either.
I know they did not understand them.
I am so so sorry. I am so so sorry.
I don't like the way they make them look.
I am so so sorry.

The trick is to take an old song, and make it SOUND new. People do it all the time. Many current artists cover older songs quite often.

I will never be sick of THE BEATLES theme. The group has more than 500 songs. It is good when new ones are introduced. I thought this was the best week so far!

I hear what OP is saying. However, just because it's Beatles night, doesn't make it a boring night. The contestants had tons of songs to choose from but they chose the boring ones.
The exact same thing will happen regardless of artist. I got mad props for Candace actually waking me up tonight.
Last point, you could actually see the judges making subtle hints that the tempo of the night needs to pick up. They did that with Paul and Angie, suggesting that they could get a rock edge to their voice, as well as Candace. Hopefully it will happen soon or they'll lose viewership because if the boring ballads continue, people will get tired of it really fast.

Brilliant songwriters, and their songs, are timeless, and will always be relevant.
Music is ever evolving; that doesn't mean what came before is not worth hearing. Shall we do away with the Blues, Jazz, Folk? Oh, and let's jettison Classical, too, while we're at it. After all, who cares about Beethoven, Vivaldi, and Handel. You don't listen to them either, right?
There's alot of great music out there. It isn't limited to Hip Hop, Rap, or other currently popular genres. There's plenty of room for all genres on the show.
